As the President of GolfQuest Executive Recruiting, Scott Sawyer brings more than 22 years of experience in the golf and hospitality industry to his clientele.
Mr. Sawyer began his career in the golf business with Arnold Palmer Golf Management. After a successful tenure as general manager, Mr. Sawyer was promoted to the role of area director overseeing operations for Palmer Golf's four properties in the Mid-Atlantic market.
After several years of continued success, Mr. Sawyer was named director of operations and was eventually promoted to vice president of operations for the Orlando, Florida-based Arnold Palmer Golf Management.
It was during this time that Mr. Sawyer gained valuable experience in supervising the operations of the company’s 33 private, resort and daily fee golf clubs across North America.
In addition, Mr. Sawyer’s key responsibilities at Arnold Palmer Golf Management included recruiting, new business development and departmental operations training for the portfolio. Mr. Sawyer was involved in the day-to-day placement and development of the company’s general managers, superintendents and department heads.
Furthermore, Mr. Sawyer gained expert knowledge of the operations while leading the opening of nine Arnold Palmer Golf Managed facilities.
Following his tenure at Arnold Palmer Golf Management, Mr. Sawyer accepted a key management role partnering with Bob Barrett and Rob Shults with Alabama-based Honours Golf – a portfolio of 12 high-end golf clubs operating in the Southeast. Scott assumed full responsibility for all of Honours Golf facilities as well the placement of all key property positions.
In addition to his golf experience, Mr. Sawyer served 12 years with Brinker International, owner and operator of Chili’s Bar & Grill, Romano’s Macaroni Grill and On the Border restaurants. He began his career following college in restaurant management leading to his role of managing partner for the Orlando, Florida Chili’s location.
From the local operations team Mr. Sawyer moved to the position of area supervisor and then onto his role as the director of opening units nationally for Chili’s Bar & Grill supervising the opening of 41 Chili’s Restaurants nationally.
